NORWAY.

NORWAY. Nordic Light International Festival of Photography celebrates ten years, and the jubilee edition is filled with returning and new guests. We welcome you to Kristiansund, Norway 21-25. April 2015.
The tenth edition of the photo festival Nordic Light will be taking place this April. Photographic stars such as James Nachtwey, Thomas Hoepker and Arno Rafael Minkkinen, as well as young photographers like Christina Leithe H. and Nelli Palomäki make up this years programme.
”Because we have a jubilee this year, we agreed to invite back some of the guests that have made the biggest impression on us during these ten years. We have chosen photographers that have new work to show, and we have balanced this out with new and exciting guests,” says artistic director Morten Krogvold.
James Nachtwey visited the first festival in 2006 and drew a full house. This year he is coming back to talk about his experiences covering war and conflict. Giorgia Fiorio is returning with her strong and beautiful images photographed during the past 25 years. Thomas Hoepker is visiting the festival for the first time to talk about a career that spans more than 60 years.
Krogvold has been a part of the festival since the beginning. He thinks the reasons why the festival now can count ten years, are many.
”We have created an intimate festival where you can meet world stars for an informal chat on the street. This is also a festival where the good stories are in focus. It’s a place for good conversations, not just about photography, but also about other subjects and art forms that have been brought in.”
The festival has through the years been visited by, among others, writers, sportsmen and lawyers. The programme this year also offer thematic width, by guests such as doctor and Gaza activist Mads Gilbert and peace professor Johan Galtung.
Nordic Light International Festival of Photography takes place 21st – 25th April. In addition to talks, there will be conversations, film screenings and exhibitions.
